My dad's 80th birthday photos

This ceremony is called "Sadabhishekam" performed with vedic rituals grandly when both husband and wife are alive and they get married lol for the 3rd time (to each other of course) so that their grandchildren can see and enjoy. (2nd time is at the 60th birthday which is so that their children can see the parents get married.)
It is rare to see both and is very auspicious and relatives and friends come to get blessed by the pair.
So that is the background for this event.

of the vedic rituals
on the previous day we perform purification and appeasing rituals called udhayashanthi or udhagashanthi

Next day at the temple

Bridal procession with relatives bearing gifts - sweets and fruits and nuts and dress for the bride and groom

Holy water sprinkled through a sieve on the pair by their children and grandchildren

Tying the knot. In India since the bride becomes a member of the whole family the groom ties 1 knot while the grooms sister helps tie the other two knots - That's my dads sister.
