Thank you - Elvis style

Hello
This is Pam  from TheBugBytes and Papillon Digital Designs today on She's a SassyLady.
Thanks Sheila for having me as one of your DT.
Today I have a Thank you card - Elvis style.
I updated my Imagine and started cutting with it. Was so happy it worked but after printing some paper and cutting some images it started showing missing ink cartridge when I tried to do advanced calibration . Grrrr..!!  And it's a new cartridge to boot.
Now I know why I gave up and went with another machine. Well we will see  I will try troubleshooting and updating again!
Well anyway at least got this one card out of it. This is from Imagine - Greeting card

To dad

Hello
This is Pam  from TheBugBytes and Papillon Digital Designs today on She's a SassyLady
Thanks Sheila for having me as one of your DT
Today I want to share a card I made for Father's day.
CAS style is the most difficult style for me but I tried to attempt that .

The embossing folder is spellbinder industrial
The auto stamp is Tim Holtz and the DAD are from recollections set got from Micheals
I took a silver pearlescent CS embossed and distressed it with sand paper to make the embossing pop.
A funny thing was usually when I stamp I always get some smudge here or there. And this time I wanted the ink smudges but nope it came clean as whistle and I had to add the smudges later :)
After inking with memento I embossed both the word and image with clear embossing powder.
I added some buttons and (irock) glam rocks.
Well that's my card for today.
Do share your projects with us.
Happy Crafting

Love is Everything

Happy Valentine's day in advance
Hi
This is Pam from Papillon digital designs & The Bugbytes today on Shes a Sassylady
I love using whites especially when you want to make elegant cards for wedding or for those romantic moments. Combine them with pastel colors with just a touch of darker shade in focal point and they give a dreamy look.
So I decided to use lots of whites

This is cut with silhouette. I used a label and made it into a shape card. I wanted an easel card so I scored in half the front of card. remember when you make an easel card it is preferable that you make another layer of the front same size as when you fold you want it to remain same. You can then mat this. If you just go for the mat only then you will have the bottom half matted and top half will look strange when you make it stand as easel. I hope I am making sense
I embossed the front piece with cuttlebug swiss dot folder. The dove image is also a silhouette cut file and so is the sentiment. I added some flowers and a rhinestone ribbon. I added a Love sticker from studio G in the center between the doves.
Love silhouette for how intricately it cuts.
Hope you enjoyed this. Do share your creation with us.
Thanks Sheila for having me here.

Happy New Year - Year of the Dragon

Hello
This is Pam from Papillon Digital Designs & The Bugbytes today at Shes a Sassylady.
Thank you Sheila for having me as a designer on your blog.
I want to wish you all a very very Happy New Year.
This year according to Chinese New Year is the year of Dragon.
Some of my childhood years was spent in Malaysia which does have a huge Chinese population and New Year is celebrated with  dragon dance in the streets. I loved it.
Year of the Dragon - I am also a big fan of science fiction and love to read this genre books. And yes at last we also have the last book of Wheel of Time to be released soon. So dragon was foremost in my mind. As I was telling my son about it he wanted to do a project based on Dragon.
So today I present you his project in which I just helped him a tad bit.
A dragon puppet and a dragon card

My younger son found this video in youtube and here is the link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DW-y-zKP0Qo. Our dragon did not come as cute as this guy's but and not bad for a first attempt. He is planning to decorate it further.
Now the image on the card is from silhouette studio.

I just flipped and welded it. But had a slight problem when welding it as it would not just weld. When such a thing happens try filling the image with color. It will mostly refuse to fill up.

That means that the image is not closed and the path is open somewhere. You can confirm this by selecting the image and double clicking it. It will go into path mode. (In this case I had to ungroup first, as it has 3 images. Double click will only work on single image or compound image. It will not work on grouped images. So ungroup first. As you can see the 2 smaller loops are filled so they are closed but the dragon itself is not) Amongst all the grey square nodes you will see a red dot somewhere like this

Now it is simple - just zoom so that you can see the region better. You will see 2 red dots. That means the path is open there

Grab hold of one of the red dots. If it is very close to the other red dot then just grabbing the red dot will make it go like a magnet to the other dot and close up with a snap. Else just pull alongside the other and it will snap closed and if you had filled color before then it will automatically get filled.

Now once it is closed you can weld.
So once I did that I copied the changed image and then flipped aligned overlapped and welded it to make a shape card. We cut it out using silhouette and then my son assembled it.
For the puppet I used 1 paper towel roll and cut it into 3 pieces. You can also do this with card stock rolled into tube. For photo purpose I am using just a paper rolled into tube.

Then cut one of the rolls into 3 smaller pieces. These 3 smaller pieces are added to the body to give strength  like ribs.
Now cut the other 2 - one piece - the front to look like a maw/mouth and the 2nd piece to look like a tail

Paint the 2 pieces. You need not paint the 3 smaller pieces.
Pierce the front and back ( the hole in the front piece should be at it's back with enough space left so that you can glue the body piece to it. Vice verse for the back piece) and weave in a chopstick

Here's the front ( you do this after you paint. This is just a demo piece in white)

Now make sure you cut the front properly and give it a maw
and DO NOT CUT LIKE THE ONE BELOW

If you do your dragon will look more like an eel. Talking from experience as this is how our first face looked like lol

We then recut the face to look more like a dragon

Now for the back piece

Now take some crepe paper (you can use 2 colors - I have used green and red) and cut them to the body length you want and glue together alternating the colors to form a width which can go around the tubes and cover . Then glue the ribs - smaller 3 tubes inside and glue the body to the front and tail tubes

Add eyes and brows and teeth and lips to front piece and decorate the tail further and have fun with the puppet
Here's another look at the puppet my son made not yet complete to his satisfaction as he wants to work on the head more

Wish you all a Happy New Year once again.

Rudolph the red nosed Reindeer

Hello This is Pam from Papillon Digital Designs & The BugBytes today on Shes a Sassylady.
Thank you Sheila for having us in your design team and allowing us to post in your fun blog!
For today I have a card for you.

This cute digi image is from instyle stamps which came along with lots of images in a cd. Love this reindeer and had to color him. I decided to experiment and get bold with the background and colored the sky pretty dark . Colored with copics of course. The dark sky is using the B6 family ie B60-B69. Then it is feathered to V0 family and finally to YR0. While using copics I generally keep a scrap paper (a piece from the same kind of paper which I color and see how the colors blend and look by scratching in that) Guess the scratch paper practice stuck with me from watercolor days as my instructor used to ask us always to try on that before putting the brush on actual paper.

Well here is the card

The orange paper is really glittery and shiny

I have used Marianna Designables on the coredinations cardstock. Love how I can cut and emboss with it. I think the one I used is DS0907.  Then I rubbed the embossed paper with sandpaper to expose the white core.I have also used EK Success swirl punch on the edge. The reindeer image did not come with a background so I just sketched the snow and tree in.  I added some white snow with opaque white paint. I did add some glitter to the snow but you cant see it quite well in the photo. Some ribbons  and rhinestones to embellish. I punched out a snowflake from a paper to add as a medallion on the white ribbon. A Teressa Collins brad on the bow and a sentiment on the label inside completes the card.
Thank you Sheila once again and thank you readers for reading this post.
 Happy Holidays

Treats ! There is always an occasion!

Hello
This is Pam from The Bugbytes  & Papillon Digital Designs your designer today  on She's a Sassylady.
And wonder of wonders no copic colored project today for you. Gasp!!!
I thought I would share with your a simple project I made. This treat bag and card can be used for all occasions. You can just change the pattern paper to suit the occasion.

The treat bag is a pencil pouch from silhouette store.  I resized it to fit a 8 1/2 by 11 paper. When I resized I made sure to ungroup the circles (for the tie/bind) and then regrouped them so that the size of circles does not change as I did not want the punched holes too big or too small.
I used twine to close after adding the candies of course. I decided to bring in a little blue by adding it in the flower and also the small punched flower (ek success). The design is also from silhouette store.

For the card I decided to add some twine too like a border and punched some flowers (ek success) to go between the 2 rows of twine. Too make the Twine border I just ran my ATG scotch tape and cut 3 strips of twine and glued it on. 3 layers of twine fills in the tape beautifully. A center flower finishes the card

For inside of the card more twine and punches and a label cut in silhouette sd

So that's my project for today.
Hope you all enjoyed it. Thanks Sheila for letting us  post in your lovely blog.
Happy Crafting!

Wee Birthday

Hello everyone. It's my turn as a designer on http://shesasassylady.blogspot.com/.
Thanks Sheila for having me as a designer and allow us all to post in your lovely blog.
My son's teacher had a birthday coming up and I thought to use my copic markers and a cute cute digi image from sylvia zett's wee line called Birthday Baby to make her a card. The digi image can be found here - http://www.weestamps.com/?page_id=27
I was wondering what colors to use and was inspired by the scrapbitz copics challenge for this month - bright fun colors. And of course I had to use my new embossing folders - Marianne designables which I got from dutchpapercrafts. They are so lovely to play with.
Here is a card

The border is using spellbinder mega dies - Parisan Accents. I used the remaining blue paper (mat cardstock) after cutting the border for the inside of the card
The embossing is using Mariannes designables - DS0916 - Anja's dots. You can see the pictures of all the lovelies here - http://shop.sweetstamps.com/EMBOSS-CUT-FOLDERS_c210.htm.
But I got mine from dutchpapercrafts. It is a cutting and embossing folder as you can see on the pink cardstock in front. But as I didn't want the inside to be cut like that I embossed half the card and then turned it around and embossed the other half. You can see the flowers going the other way.
The sentiment is from Anna Griffin stamps. To put the gift card in I just cut out a cardstock - rectangle with tabs.

Hope you liked the bright colored card . Thanks for having me here Sheila. Thank you all for reading.

With Glittering eyes

Hi
This is Pam from Papillon digital designs & The Bugbytes - your designer today at Shes a Sassylady.
Today I bring to you a card I made using a digi image from saturated canary was called  Gypsy Dancer and is now called Zorana which I had got for my Suzanne J Dean's copic class.

Papers used were a blue cardstock and an yellow cardstock. I stamped the yellow CS with Anna Griffin background stamps roughly. Though they do tile perfectly I stamped them somewhat imperfectly. I colored the image using copics. I used MS punch to punch a white cardstock for layering and used some pink CS for contrast and also a small cake doily behind the image. I had this purple cow craft geek wind it wire kit and used it to make a swirl. Then used some ribbon flower rose to embellish. I used a checkerboard ribbon and to give further contrast cut a blue card stock piece - the width of the card and stuck the ribbon in the middle.
I love the quote by Roald Dahl - "And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”
I  printed it and used that as sentiment.
Hope you all liked this card.
Thanks for reading and thanks Sheila for giving me an opportunity to post in your blog.
