Flower Shutter rocker card

I always wanted to try to make a shutter card and when Diamond press came out with the die I so wanted to try out the die set.
I missed out on the hidden messages die autoship but when just the mechanism was on the website I grabbed it and so glad I did.
Even though I have an svg file and have done it using cutting machine for this I prefer the die as it cuts clean the small tiny tabs and prongs? needed to assemble this mechanism.
I love interactive cards and thought why not combine a rocker card with the shutter opening.
The big flower has been drawn and cut out by hand.

Window

It's been a long time since I last posted. It has been a long time since I crafted too.
Opening the window to crafting again hopefully with this post.
Hubby won't be that happy as that means crafting supplies bills 😁
Made this card with diamond press dies and stamps. One of my 6 fav companies.
I have used the window view sets.
#diamondpress
I am rusty in blogging and crafting. hopefully will clean up soon.

Love the window view sets. it was an autoship and I think I have mixed 2 sets from that.

The trees and bunnies were fussy cut by hand while the flowers , pot, grass, sun, cloud, and windows are die-cuts.

Lol have to say that the card has more flowers than my garden right now after the Texas Freeze.

I wanted a bit of texture so used paper clay brick wall ( made using brick wall silicone mould/mold).

Thought that a center step card would be the apt base to display the die cuts. You know how I love interactive cards.

Just added a sentiment and a simple card is ready.

Thank you for reading.

Will try to post more and share.

Papercraft Weekend Challenge September 1st week

I love the challenges by Allison and Caroline at http://papercraftweekendchallenge.blogspot.com/2011/09/september-sketch-challenge.html

This was the sketch

and I was so excited to start playing  lol that my eyes just missed seeing the card sketch. But I guess they'll forgive me! Anyway of course I used my silhouette. I designed and waited for my son to come from school to bring my printed sheet and stuff downstairs so that I could cut and glue. That dear boy! Anyway it was pretty late by the time I finished and took the pic. So sorry for the quality of the picture. Here is the card I made

A close up of the main shape

The paper/pattern is from oscraps moonrise digital kit. The words/sentiment is my own - what I came -up with looking at the mixer! Just a text on circle path! The font is one of the free fonts - Cold Coffee!

do join the challenge! It is fun!

My Copic Adventure

Hello
This is Pam @ The Bug Bytes and I am a guest designer today at Sassylady.
I am now fascinated with copics and Wow with silhouette and digital stamps ooh what fun. Some tracing , tweaking and lo behold the stamp gets cuts out so beautifully.
So here is my 1st copic adventure. I am rather pleased with how it turned out.
I am in love with both silhouette and copics. My only grouse is after being used to a large canvas ie in watercolor paper the size 15 x 30 - the real estate for coloring has grown teeny :)

The stamp used here is a free digital stamp from http://bodilsscrappeverden.blogspot.com/

The view of the silhouette studio window

As you can see I added 2 images to color just in case.  Note that the image is cut off  above the ankles.
Nope I did not do the cutting - the image came that way. After coloring and mounting the image onto the label background I decided that it needed something so yep I added some grass cut out by hand ;).
and tucked her missing parts under the grass lol. The whites on image are from gel pen
The button was a just a plain old pastel yellow button but I jazzed it up (or down) with copics - red around the rim or lip and gray under the lip and white gel pen. Looks coordinated now doesn't it?
I first saw embellishing the envelope at LorraineB's http://cardcreationsbylorraine.blogspot.com about a year back and since then I have started to add borders to envelope. I also like to take it one step further and add a border to the inside of the card as well and also bring a bit of something out to the envelope front.

Here is one more view

Here's the inside of the card

Hope you liked the card.

Never Ending Card!

Did I tell you that my son was fascinated by stars and he wanted another star card. He wanted it on a never ending card! I made the card on my gypsy long ago in my thebugbytes blog using 3 birds - images ie straight from the nest and the card was featured in their blog. You can check that out at this link - http://www.thebugbytes.com/2010/04/never-ending-card-using-straight-from.html . There is a video there as well to show how I assembled it

Just 1 pic of this

So I decided to do a svg file as well for just the base with no embellishments (file under svg file tab - top menu in the blog). My son wanted it blue and with stars - just that.
But before I post the pics the template/instruction to assemble can be seen from these two images

and

So here is a glimpse of the simple simple card I made using the silhouette (silhouette - just the base file is also available ). Looking at this my elder son wants one too but not blue and not with stars but with saxophone images!

1st turn

2nd turn

Now in the next turn  I could have split the images like in my 3 birds version so that half of image does not show through but I wanted the smile to peek through so next turn

and the next turn brings us back to the 1st image. Hope you make one of these cards. You need a big envelope though as my card was the size 8 x 8 :)

Star Card

My friend Allison has a challenge group at facebook. I love her challenges and today's challenge was to use a star. So I decided to make a star card. It's a triangle which folds up to a star. I am not still able to go up to my studio but thank heavens for my silhouette sd which is so small and can be easily carried it has been brought downstairs. So with just some glue and paper - here is a star card. I will put up the template - svg file soon on the blog. Note it is a the card base only and not the embellishments. Just resize it to the size you want. You need to do some ungrouping and deleting (text and score marks in case you do not want score marks) and then moving before cutting in that file. Contact me if you need help with the file

Here is the card

Celebrate with a Bouquet

Hi
The project for today is a card I call celebrate with bouquet. The image is a bouquet from dover greetings and the sentiment is celebrate. The whole card was cut with silhouette machine. This is such a lovely die cut machine especially for print and cut. It cuts only 8 1/2 x 11 papers though. Just wish they would come up with a 12 x 12 one. I use this machine rather than my knk machine for print and cut as this has an optical sensor which makes it so easy to print and cut as when you send the design to the printer with registration marks (it has 3 registration marks) it cuts so well  even if it cuts only size upto 8 1/2 x 11 but this will do most of the times as anyway most printers unless it is large format only prints this size max. (KNK machine and black cat machines have laser sensor which also works great but takes just a little more time as you have to to align the marks yourself using the laser)

I have used silhouette as it is easier but you can use your printer to print the dover image or any other image you like and any die cut machine and adapt for this card. For e.g you can just use any cardstock instead of printing one and use scallop design from one of cricut cartridge and use your DS or gypsy or craftroom for adjusting width and height and also maybe a different font. I just used the silhouette and for the image the lovely one form dover greetings book. I just love this book for card making. If you want to layer the butterfly and the bee as I have done then you have to print 2 and use your scissors if you don't have silhouette but I did lots of node editing and cropping to get the machine to cut.

Here is a screenshot of the silhouette studio file . I opened up 3 versions of the file so that I can fit and move images in the active cut area. Else you have to print and then cut it immediately and then send another to print and so on. If you open multiple windows then you print each in one shot and then make sure you open the right window for each and send to silhouette to detect and cut ( very important else you will have wrong cuts).

I cut all except for envelope base using the white cardstock (the walmart ones are so great for this) . Then I assembled the card using pop dart and glue(ATG gun)and glue dots. I used 2 flower eyelets which I luckily had in same blue color as the background paper for inside of the card on the sentiment . Once can always enhance the lighter colors with copic or embossing but in this case I didn't have to do that.

Here is the card and envelope

I have added stickles - fruit punch and diamond as I love glitter. I stacked the bee with one layer of pop dots while the butterfly has 2 layers to raise it up further.

I added some doodling with black markers too on the card and envelope.
The inside of the card with the 2 flower eyelets on the label . I further added bling to the eyelets.

So here's the card and envelope once again

Hope you enjoyed the project. You will see more as I keep playing with dover book and silhouette machine. They sing such a great Duet together!

Basketfull of Thanks

I enjoy playing with the silhouette so much
This is especially so great for cards with print and cut.
Match it with dover and oh so fun.
Here is a card using dover greetings for central image and silhouette pattern for card base (printed on white cardstock - 8 1/2 x 11 - the ones you get from walmart). Some border patterns from silhouette store.

Don't you love it?  The flower on the envelope was a punch but rest all silhouette and dover.
Here are flowers on basket have been layered with foam dots and stickled.

Here are some more views of the card

And the inside of the card

Here is a screen shot of the file in silhouette

and the cut lines view

Now just a brief steps on how I got the dover image from AI to silhouette and layered it. There maybe
easier ways to do this but well this is how I did it and like to do it.. I am sure as I use the software more I'll find easier methods. Nothing like hands on experience.
I might make a video later but for now some pictures and a summary

Here is the image in AI. The image is just the basket of flowers. Since wanted additional layers I got the rest of the flowers by clipping with outline.

I used the pencil tool to outline shapes I wanted instead of tracing as sometimes it is easier and less nodes and less messy. You can always keep adjusting so easily in AI.
I filled the outline with black fill and no stroke.

Then I copied (duplicate and then set the opacity of only the path around 0) the outline on to a new layer and placed on top of a copy of image ( note the image has full opacity and only copy of the path has opacity 0 so that you can see the image) and aligned the outline perfectly on top of image and clipped. Repeated for each outline.

Then I saved the file and also exported a png copy so that I can open it in silhouette.

Now to silhouette where almost the same thing is done using the silhouette studio

Then I traced each black outline as this is a simpler trace from AI's solid black outline to silhouette or else you should do some node editing. I like the trace feature in AI better and use that for intricate edged images and pencil tool for simpler images like this.

So ope trace window the butterfly like tool at the top right (5th group). Select area and then trace edge

Move the outline out of the way and repeat for each image in case you need layers like I did. They add dimension to your project. Now here are screenshots with my description in the image itself

Now to get the images  so that we can get cutline and crop and set it all ready to import to library you have to crop the image on png and use the outline as cut line . So bring all the red traced outline to the front of the base image.

Use modify

Yeah! Lovely cropped images of flower

set the cut lines from the cut window

Well that's it.
end result a - beautiful image which I can use over and over and print and cut (with registration mark turned on)

Here is the cut line view

I then saved the file and imported to library and yes made a lovely card playing with software more

That was for sure a long post. Do leave comments if you find it useful :)
