Don't Throw Out All The Junk Mail!!!

Hello peeps!!! It's Danita from danitasdesigns.blogspot.com.

I literally had nothing to contribute this month to this blog post, until I was going through the mail at work and came across a piece of junk mail that sparked my interest.

The colors were so beautiful and it felt like a very smooth, heavy cardstock. I decided to keep it and see what I could come up with.

Here it is:

This is what it originally look like....junk mail!!!

Here's the back, isn't it pretty?

The Inside. I didn't use this for this project but I wanted to show it to you

So here's what I did. I cut out two squares, 1 @ 5" and 1 @ 5.25". I used a corner punch on the 5" one and glued it to the second one.

I cut the straws at 2.5" to make the candles and then I cut the "wicks' out of yellow cardstock and added red stickles for the flames.  Really simple.

I added some bling and adhered everything to a 5.25" white card base to finish.

I will forever be paying extra attention to the mail now!!☺
Thanks for looking!!!

This digi image  - Feeling Flat is this sunday's release at DS4J
Here is a card I made using this cute funny image

Ahh I wish I feel 100% normal again!
Hate my coloring and how tired I get easily.
Well on bright side I can craft again.
I have watch parts which I recycled and added to the a the brad punch from i top
I decided to write out the sentiment on left instead of running up and down printing it.

Now to enter this in some challenges

Cocoa fairy

Found a beautiful challenge site - http://lacysunshinechallengeblog.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/challenge-12-anything-goes-must-include.html

and fell in love with the freebie offered there.
Now that I am not able to shop for a while I feel pangs of cocoa withdrawal so anything chocolate (which my hubby refuses to buy for me) grabs my attention!!
well since I can't eat or drink it atleast was able to color it.
I still am not able to sit for long so my coloring is a bit messy - not blending well and going out of lines. Yuck!
But even making a simple card is therapy or so I tell myself.
Here is my card with limited supplies

A Hot Air Balloon Card

Hello Everyone,

Lisa from Lisa's Craft Room here for my turn this month. Thank you Pam for allowing me to share my project. WOW can you believe it is July already? I hope you all are doing well and surviving this humid weather, if you have humid weather. I know I am struggling with it. I do not like humidity. It makes me exhausted and I cannot function. We are hoping that it will break soon.

So, for my project today, I made this cute hot air balloon card. A few friends and myself are going to see hot air balloons next week and one of my friends loves hot air balloons. So do I. They are so pretty. I've never been up in one. I don't know if I would because I am afraid of heights, that high anyway. We won't be riding in them, just watching, then at night they are going to light them up in the sky. (Whatever that means). It should be interesting. I'll post pictures if I can take them.

The base of my card is a blue card stock (A2 size card). The cloud mat is from a 6 x 6 paper pad by My Minds Eye called Away We Go. I wanted to paper piece the hot air balloon, so those patterned papers are also from My Minds Eye and that one is called Follow Your Heart. The hot air balloon is from My Creative Time (Emma), the set is called Fly Away With Me and the sentiment is also from Emma called More of My Favorite Sayings.

As you can see here, I got carried away thinking that I would need all of these balloons to do the pattern that I wanted, which I only needed two and to top it off, I stamped them on the wrong side.

Paper piecing can be so fun and relaxing if you don't rush. I cut two of the scraps and made banners and adhered them with Zip Dry glue. I also used the glue for the hot air balloons pattern. After I was done, I cut it out and popped it up with dimensionals. I used Caribbean twine (from the Twinery) and added dazzling diamonds (from Stampin' Up) to some of the clouds.

I think my card came out sweet and I know my friend will love it.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful weekend.

Challenge #71 - Shaped card with buttons

The challenge #71 this fortnight at DS4J is to make a shaped card with buttons.
Each month one of the  DS4J DT member will be sponsoring the challenge.
This month's challenge is given to you by Jackie Get the JC look
Since it is July and July 4th was Independence day here I decided to make a shaped card with this cute image called Miss Liberty

The card shape is from a grand nestability label die and the star is also a nestability.. Image is colored with copics and the gold of the crown and torch was with gold foil pen.
I printed out the goddess Libertas from wiki and mounted them on a paper button(just circle folded into quarters and stuck on another circle..

I am entering this card in some challenges

Happy July!!  This is Lori from Scrappin My Stress Away and I am excited to be on The Bug Bytes today!!

I get to catch up scrapbooking a bit in the summer and I recently posted a layout of my two younger brothers - you can see this HERE if you wish.  This page is my oldest (Kramer) and my youngest (Tanner).  These two are so much alike and Tanner really looks up to Kramer.

I am still a newbie with my Cameo and really haven't designed much (like I can on my Gypsy) but I am trying to use it more and more!!!  I used some cuts from the Silhouette Store for this layout.

Kramer is Tanner's hero so this phrase was perfect!!  I used some green gear paper to mat the phrase.  I pop-dotted it over the photo as I had extra couch showing on the left side!

I tucked some gears underneath.

I added some gears to the corners as well.

I love this font - very casual and fun.  I wanted "Brothers" for the title.

I like the "And Best Buddies" at the bottom of the page.

These two are super close.  Kramer recently moved out into his own apartment and Tanner misses him so much!!

Pam - thank you for having me on your blog today!!!

Garden in the Pocket

DS4J sponsors challenges and this week they are sponsoring Artistic Inspirations.
The lovely image I used for this project is Freshian Booklet

I used Marianne designables folder DS0907 (unfortunately no longer available)
I love these folder as they emboss and cut at the same time. Image is colored with copics . I loved adding the skeleton leaf. The flowers and the book made me think of how we press flowers into a book.
The sentiment is from paper trey ink. It is stamped and embossed with clear embossing powder.
Hope this inspires you to try embossing.

Well hey there, bday boy!

Hi all!  This is Melody from A Splash Here and There blog. Thanks Pam for letting me share my project with the Bugbytes readers once a month!  Today I'm sharing a boy's birthday card I created for my nephew who just turned 5 a few days ago.  This project was designed using the Silhouette Studio and cut with my Cameo.

The base of the card is a pennant card by Lori Whitlock (Design ID #44887).  I used the internal offset feature on the front layer (in white) to create the faux stitching in black ink.  Then I filled the top layer of the card with the journey dot pattern by KI Memories (Design ID #22078).  I used the Happy Sans font for the sentiment in the front, set the sentiment to print only, flood-filled in black ink.  Below is a screenshot and the page before cutting (I'm using a Cricut mat on my Cameo).

I used the internal offset feature to create the sentiment on the inside of the card (Happy Sans font), as well as the faux stitching, this time in blue ink.  The knight image is a print and cut png purchased from Lettering Delights.  Below is another screenshot and the printed page before cutting.

I wanted a layered look for some dimension so I
printed 2 of the knight image.

And here are some closeups of the final card.  I added some twine too.

Thanks for stopping by!
